Modak Marketing And Export is up on the 3rd floor of 1/9, Sreecolony. This is in the Regent Estate area of Kolkata, 700092. Being on the third floor means we get a bit of exercise every day since there isn't always a lift working. The office itself is quite cozy, maybe even a bit cramped when we have a lot of samples lying around for export. We spend our mornings checking emails from buyers and our afternoons looking at products we want to market. It’s a lot of back and forth on the phone. The Regent Estate neighborhood is quite nice, with a lot of trees and families living around. We’ve set up our workspace with whatever furniture we could find that was sturdy. It’s not a designer showroom, just a place to do business. Sometimes the rain in Kolkata makes the roof leak a tiny bit near the window, but we just move the papers out of the way. We export different kinds of goods, depending on what people are asking for at the time. It’s a small operation run by a few of us who have been in the trade for years. We aren't a big corporation with fancy titles. We just do the marketing and shipping as best as we can from this little spot in Sreecolony. The balcony has a few plants that we forget to water sometimes, but they seem to survive anyway. It’s just us doing our best.
