Miracle Tea & Spices Co.

You can find Miracle Tea & Spices Co. on the 2nd floor of 21 RN Mukherjee Road. This is an old building in a historic part of Kolkata, so it has high ceilings and those big windows that let in a lot of light but also a lot of street noise. The stairs are made of stone and are worn down in the middle from years of people walking up and down. We have been in this space for a long time, and it smells like a mix of dried tea leaves and old paper. We have rows of tea samples in tin cans lined up on wooden shelves. Most of the day is spent tasting different batches or weighing out spices for orders. It is a bit of a maze inside with all the partitions we have added over the years. The fans on the ceiling spin slowly, and sometimes pigeons land on the window sills. It is a very traditional way of working. We don't have much in the way of modern gadgets, just the scales and the packing materials. When it rains, the sound on the old roof is quite loud, and the street below turns into a river. We usually sit around a large central table to discuss the day's tasks. It is a steady pace of life here. We aren't trying to change the world; we just want to make sure the tea and spices we handle are handled properly before they go out.
