Metro Dairy Limited

If you know the Barrackpore-Barsat Link Road, you have probably driven past us many times. We are tucked away in Subhasnagar over in Neelgunj. The mornings start really early here. Like, before the sun is even up, the first trucks are already idling in the yard. It can get pretty loud when the crates are being moved around on the concrete. The air smells like fresh milk and sometimes a bit of damp earth. We have been at this location for a long time. The building has some cracks and the white paint is peeling in places, but it works for what we need. We do not have many visitors except for the drivers and the occasional local looking for a bit of work. It is a busy stretch of road, so there is always a bit of dust on the windows. We have a small room where we sit and have lunch together. Usually, someone brings extra pickles or some bread to share. It is just a regular dairy. We do not spend money on fancy signs or anything. We just make sure the milk gets processed and the bottles are clean. The machines have their own rhythm that you get used to after a while. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the back door, so we just put a bucket there. We just keep moving every day.
