Mannan International

Maharishi Debendra Road is one of those places that never really stops moving. We are located at number 187, and if you’ve ever been down this way, you know how narrow the lanes get with all the rickshaws and lorries trying to pass each other. Mannan International has been here for a bit, tucked into this old building. It’s a bit damp during the monsoon, but the walls are thick and they keep the heat out during the peak of May. We don’t have a big sign or anything, just the address and the door that’s usually left open for some air. The morning starts with clearing the mail and seeing what needs to go out. Most of our work involves a lot of back and forth on the phone. The neighbors are mostly other businesses, so there’s always the sound of crates being moved or people shouting directions to drivers. It’s not the kind of place where you’d find a fancy lobby or air conditioning in every corner. We mostly just drink water from the clay pot and keep the fans on high. By the time evening comes, the street gets even more crowded, so we try to wrap things up before the sun goes down. It’s just a regular spot in a busy part of the city where we keep our heads down and handle our business as it comes. There is always a lot of paperwork to finish before we go home.
