We operate out of Bengal, doing what we can in the fashion world. Our setup is pretty simple and we don't go in for anything too grand or corporate. The work mostly involves looking at different fabrics and trying to figure out what will sell in the local markets this season. It’s a busy environment because there is always a new trend or a holiday coming around. We spend a lot of time talking to suppliers and looking over cloth samples. Some days the floor is covered in scraps of cloth and loose thread. It’s not the neatest job, but it’s what we do. We have a small group of people here who have been working together for a long time now. We mostly just drink tea and talk through the orders that need to go out. The building we use is older and has a lot of character, though it gets a bit drafty when the weather changes. We don't really have a big corporate structure. It is more like a family business where everyone chips in to help. We don't use any big words to describe ourselves. We just make clothes and try to stay busy every week. Bengal has a long history with textiles, and we are just another small part of that story. The days are long, but we enjoy the process of seeing a piece of clothing go from just an idea to a finished product sitting on a shelf. It feels like real work.
