Magnum Export

Walking up the stairs at 16, Mangoe Lane can be a bit of a workout. We are on the 1st floor in Room No. 9. Magnum Export is not a big operation with a glass front or anything like that. It is just a room with some old fans spinning and a lot of paper. The lane outside is always packed with people and vendors. You can hear the sounds of the city coming through the windows all day long. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit and we just sit there waiting for the backup to kick in. Room No. 9 has seen a lot of years. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are usually too busy with the ledgers and the shipping schedules to worry about that. We have some wooden chairs that have been here since the start and they still hold up. Mangoe Lane has its own rhythm. You get to know the delivery guys and the postman pretty well when you stay in one spot for this long. We just handle the exports and try to keep things organized. It is not always easy to keep track of everything when the phones are ringing and the humidity is high. We just keep our heads down and work through the pile on the desk. It is a simple setup but it works for us. We do not need much more than a working pen.
