Over at 2A, Ganga Prasad Mukherjee Road, you’ll find our place, Madan Lal Shaw & Mohan Lal Shaw. We are right in the heart of Jadu Babu Bazar in Bhawanipur, which is one of those parts of the city that never seems to stop moving. It’s a very old and traditional area, and being in the market means there is always a crowd of people outside the door. The shop has been around for quite a while, and it bears the names of the family. We don't have a modern, sleek storefront; it’s more of a classic Kolkata setup with high ceilings and lots of things tucked into corners. Bhawanipur has a lot of history, and you can feel it when you walk down Ganga Prasad Mukherjee Road. Every day is a bit of a squeeze with all the vendors and shoppers in Jadu Babu Bazar, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We spend our time talking to customers and keeping track of our supplies. It gets very loud and hectic, especially in the mornings when the market is at its peak. We just do our work, chat with the neighboring shopkeepers, and try to keep things running smoothly. It’s a busy life, but it’s what we know best here in this corner of Bhawanipur, and we are just happy to be a small part of the local daily trade.
