You can find us at 17, Nanda Mallik Lane, which is over by Girish Park. It’s one of those old parts of the city where the lanes are skinny and the buildings are tall. We’ve been in this spot for quite some time now. The shop is full of art supplies and frames. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than two people are inside at once. We don’t have a polished showroom with spotlights. Instead, we have shelves piled high with canvases and tubes of paint. Sometimes it’s hard to find a specific brush right away, but we eventually dig it out. The walls are covered in bits of paper and notes we’ve written to ourselves. It’s a very hands-on kind of business. We don't use a lot of fancy technology; we still do most things the old-fashioned way. The noise from the main road doesn't really reach us back here, so it’s a relatively quiet place to work. We get all sorts of people coming in—students from the local colleges and older folks who have been painting for decades. We don't try to sound like a big company because we aren't one. We’re just a small shop on a quiet lane trying to supply the neighborhood with what they need for their hobbies. It’s a simple life, surrounded by colors and the smell of linseed oil. We just take it day by day and keep the stock ready.
