Maa Annapurna Rice Concern

You can find us at Room 8 on the fourth floor of Fairlie Place. If you have ever been to this part of the city, you know how crowded and hectic it gets with all the old buildings and the narrow stairs. Maa Annapurna Rice Concern is just a small operation running out of this room. It is quite a walk up sometimes, and the building has that old, lived-in feel to it. Inside the office, there is not much space, so we have to be careful about where we stack the bags and the ledgers. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are usually too busy with the rice trade to worry about that. We spend most of our time talking to suppliers and making sure the rice stocks are moving where they need to go. It gets pretty loud outside with the street noise coming up from the ground level. We use a lot of handwritten notes and the desk is always a mess of receipts and tea cups. It is a very traditional way of working, I suppose. We don't have any high-tech systems, just the basic stuff that has worked for us for years. People come in and out of the room all day, and it can get a bit cramped when more than three people are inside. We just focus on the rice and the daily numbers.
