We’ve been operating M N Dastur Co Kolkata from here for quite a bit. The lane itself is narrow, like many in this part of the city, so it’s usually quiet except for the occasional scooter or delivery van. Inside, the office is pretty basic. We have some old wooden desks and shelves that are probably older than some of the junior staff. It gives the place a bit of character, I suppose. We mostly deal with engineering and planning tasks here. It involves a lot of sitting and focusing on the details, which can be tiring, but it's what we do. We aren't big on meetings that last forever; we usually just talk across the room if we need something. Everyone knows their role. During the monsoon, the rain hits the roof pretty hard and we have to make sure no windows are left open. It’s a very practical way of living and working. We don't have a website that we update or a marketing team telling us what to say. This is just us, working in a quiet corner of Kolkata, making sure the numbers add up and the plans are solid. It's a living, and we're glad to have it here in this specific part of town.
