Our place, M E, is located in the Madhubani Apartment complex over on M. C. Garden Road. We’re in Block B, specifically Flat-C/1 in Unit-Ii. Kolkata is a crowded city, and our little corner is no different. It’s a residential building, so it feels more like a home than a strict office. We’ve got our setup inside the flat, with enough room for the essentials. It can get a bit tight when we have stuff delivered or when everyone is in at the same time, but we’ve learned how to move around each other. The walk up to the flat is familiar now. We spend most of our hours here looking at screens and talking through what needs to be done for the week. It’s not a fancy commercial space with glass walls. It’s just a regular apartment where we happen to run our business. The neighbors are used to us coming and going. Sometimes the hallway is quiet, other times you hear the sounds of the city coming through the windows. We try to keep the paperwork from piling up too high, but it happens. We deal with whatever comes our way, one day at a time. It’s a practical way to work without all the extra costs of a big downtown building. Being at 258 M.C. Garden Road just feels right for us right now. It is a humble space but it works for what we do.
