Lion Picture & Frames (India) Ltd.

We are tucked away in the Bird Jute Mill Compound over on Dakshindari Road. It's a big old industrial area, and we’re at number 200. Lion Picture & Frames is the name on the door. We spend our days surrounded by lengths of wood and bits of glass. It’s a dusty job, framing pictures. There’s always sawdust on the floor no matter how much we sweep up. The building itself is old, part of the old mill, so it has high ceilings and a bit of a draft in the winter. We have some heavy machinery for cutting the frames and joining the corners. It’s noisy when everything is running at once. We’ve got a good group of workers who know their way around a saw. Sometimes we get really old photos that people want saved, and other times it’s just new posters. We treat them all about the same. The road outside can be a mess when it rains, lots of puddles and mud to walk through. But it’s a solid place to work. We don't have a fancy showroom here; it’s mostly just the workshop and a small area to talk to customers who come by. We’ve been in the compound for years. It’s got a lot of history, and we’re just part of the daily grind here. We just focus on making the frames straight and keeping the glass clean for everyone.
