Linen Industries

We are tucked away on the third floor, Unit 18, at 21 Ballygunge Circular Road. It’s right behind the Punjab Club, which is a good landmark if you’re trying to find us for the first time. Being up on the third floor means it’s a bit quieter than the street below, which we appreciate. Linen Industries is where we handle all our fabric work. The elevator in this building is a bit slow and old, so sometimes we just take the stairs if we aren't carrying too much. The office is full of rolls of linen in different colors. It smells like clean cloth in here. We spend a lot of time on the phone or responding to emails about different shipments. It isn't a huge operation, just a few of us making sure everything runs okay. Sometimes the rain in Kolkata makes the walls a bit damp, but we keep the stock covered up well. We’ve been in this building for a few years now. The tea lady comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a break. It’s a steady pace of work. We don’t rush things too much because mistakes happen when you’re in a hurry. Most of the people we work with are regulars who have been coming to this unit for a long time. It’s a simple, honest way to spend the day.
