We are based at 1 Ananda Chatterjee in Kolkata, right in the heart of West Bengal. Being in this part of the city means we are surrounded by a lot of history and old buildings. The ECC Division operates from here, and it is a busy place to be. You can hear the sounds of the city all day long, from the yellow taxis honking to the people walking by on the street. Our office isn’t anything too flashy, just a place where we sit and handle the engineering and construction coordination. The pin code is 700003, so we are in an older section of town. It gets very humid here, especially during the monsoon, and sometimes the rain makes it hard to get around. We have our routines, starting early with some tea and going through the lists of what needs to be done on the various sites. It’s a lot of coordination between different people and departments. The space inside is filled with charts, maps, and a few old desks that have seen better days. We don’t really worry about making things look perfect for visitors because we are usually too busy with the actual work. It feels like a real part of the neighborhood. We know the shopkeepers nearby and they know us. It is just a regular Kolkata office life for our team here as we manage the daily tasks.
