Kothari Marbles

You can find us over at No 5 on Jessore Road, right in the Tetultala area. Kothari Marbles has been sitting here in South Dum Dum for a while, surrounded by the usual noise and bustle of Basak Bagan. We spend most of our days moving heavy slabs of stone around the yard. It's a lot of dusty work, to be honest. When someone walks in, they’re usually looking for a specific color or a certain thickness for their floors or counters. We show them what’s currently sitting in the racks. Some days the shipment comes in late and we’re out there late at night unloading trucks. Other days, we're just sitting in the small office area trying to keep the accounts straight. It isn't a showroom with bright lights or anything like that. It’s a workplace. We have all sorts of marble pieces leaning against the walls. If you come by, you’ll probably see us in our work clothes, maybe covered in a bit of stone dust. The traffic on Jessore Road can be a real headache sometimes, which makes getting deliveries out a bit of a challenge, but we manage. We just try to get the pieces cut right and loaded up safely so they don't crack on the way. It’s basic work, but it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. There's always something to do, so we don't have much time for sitting around.
