Karushree

Our place is at 36, Strand Road, specifically in Room 16 on the 2nd floor. If you have ever been down Strand Road, you know it is right near the river and it is one of the most crowded places you can find. The building is old, like most things in this part of town, and you have to walk up the stairs to get to us. Karushree is a small setup compared to some of the giants around here, but we like it that way. Room 16 is where we keep all our stock and do our daily admin work. It can feel a bit cramped when we have a lot of new inventory coming in, but we have a system for stacking things that works. The walls are lined with shelves and there is always a faint smell of fabric in the air. We spend a lot of our time dealing with wholesalers and people who are looking for specific traditional items. Sometimes the power goes out or the street outside gets blocked by a truck, and we just have to wait it out. It is not a flashy office by any means. We have a couple of fans, some sturdy wooden desks, and a lot of ledgers. It feels like a real piece of old Calcutta commerce. People drop in, have a quick chat, and move on. We just keep things running as best as we can from our little corner on the second floor.
