Kanishka Fashion

Our little place, Kanishka Fashion, is tucked away at 34 B Motilal Basak Lane in Kolkata. If you know this part of the city, you know how these lanes can be. They are narrow and full of life, and sometimes it is a bit of a squeeze for the delivery vans to get through. We have been operating from this spot for a while now. It isn't a huge showroom with glass walls and bright lights. It’s more of a working space where we keep our collections and handle the daily business of fashion. We deal with a lot of different styles, and the office is usually piled high with samples and fabric rolls. Most of the time, the fans are whirring and we are busy on the phone or writing down orders in our ledgers. We don't really have a marketing team or anyone to write fancy words for us. We just know what we do and we do it every day from morning until late evening. The neighborhood knows us well. Sometimes the neighbors pop in just to say hello while we are packing boxes. It's a very local way of doing things. We focus on getting the clothes ready and making sure they get to where they need to go. Kolkata is a busy city, and being in this lane keeps us grounded. It is hard work, but we are used to it by now.
