Kamala Creations

Shivtalla Street is where you can find us at Kamala Creations. It is a narrow road and can get quite crowded, especially when the delivery trucks are trying to get through the lane. We have been here at number 29 for some time now. The shop is filled with materials and we are usually busy cutting or measuring things. It’s not the quietest place to work because of all the noise from the street, but we are used to it by now. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just like making things that people actually want to wear. Most of our day is spent talking to suppliers or fixing machines that sometimes decide to stop working. It’s a very hands-on kind of job. Sometimes we have a lot of laughs, and other days we are just tired. The light in the back room isn't the best, so we do most of the detailed work near the front where the sun comes in. People walk in and out all day. Some are just looking, others know exactly what they need. We don't use any fancy systems to keep track of things, mostly just notebooks and pens. It works for us. Living and working in this part of town has its own rhythm. You get to know the tea seller and the other shop owners pretty well. It feels like a small community even though the city is huge.
