Ivy Professional School

If you find yourself at 7 Circus Avenue in Kolkata, you’ll find us in Flat 5. It’s an interesting place for a school, being inside a flat, but it makes the whole experience feel a lot more personal. Ivy Professional School is basically just a few rooms where we get together to learn and teach. Kolkata 17 is a busy area, but once you step inside the building and head up to our floor, it gets a bit quieter. We have our whiteboards and some desks, and that’s pretty much the core of it. We don't have a huge campus with grass and trees. We have a flat in a historic part of the city where we talk about professional skills and career stuff. The tea man downstairs knows us well because we’re always heading down for a break. It’s a bit cramped when a big group comes in, but we make it work. The walls are covered with notes and schedules. We don’t go in for corporate style here; it’s more about the actual teaching and the people sitting in the chairs. Sometimes the elevator in the building is a bit slow, so we take the stairs. It’s all part of the daily life in Kolkata. We’ve been running things from Flat 5 for a while now, and we like the honest, hardworking atmosphere we’ve built. People come here to improve their lives, and we just provide the space and the knowledge to help them do that without any drama.
