Iqbal Garment

Iqbal Garment is based in the Queen's Mansions building, specifically in Room Number 411. This is right in the Park Hotel area of Kolkata. Queen's Mansions is an old, grand building with a lot of history. It has these very high ceilings and thick walls that keep things a bit cooler in the summer. Being on the fourth floor means we have to rely on the lift, which is quite old and can be a bit temperamental. We have been in this room for a long time. It is a small space, but we have organized it to fit our sewing machines and a large cutting table. We can hear the noise of Park Street all day long. It is a very busy part of the city. We mostly work on small orders and specialized items. There are always pieces of thread and fabric scraps on the floor. We do not have a secretary or a fancy entrance. People who want to find us usually just come up to the fourth floor and look for our door. It is a very personal way of doing business. We know the other tenants in the building and we often share news over a cup of tea. We do not have a website or a social media page. We just rely on people knowing our work. It is a simple life in an old building, and we are quite content with that. We just focus on our sewing.
