Hk Ray Medicine

Hk Ray Medicine is on the ground floor on Sodepur Road in the Madhyamgram area of Kolkata. Being on the ground floor is a big help because we get a lot of elderly people who cannot climb stairs easily. Sodepur Road is a major route, so there are always buses and rickshaws going past. The shop is a bit narrow but it goes back a long way. We have shelves on both sides. I try to keep the most common things near the front counter so I do not have to walk back and forth too much. Madhyamgram has grown a lot lately and there are more people around than before. I have seen the changes over the years. We open the shop quite early. The first thing I do is light an incense stick and then start looking at the orders. Kolkata is a place where people love to talk, so even a simple purchase of medicine can turn into a ten-minute conversation. I listen to their stories about their health or their families. It is part of the job. In the afternoon, the shop gets a bit warm. We have a small table in the back where we eat our lunch. Then it is back to work. We check the stock and see what needs to be ordered for the next day. It is a very normal way to spend the day. We are just a local shop on Sodepur Road doing what we do.
