Elder Pharmacutical

Our office is tucked away on the sixth floor of 201 Maharshi Devendra Road. If you know this part of Kolkata, you are already aware of how hectic it gets down on the street level. There are always people hauling big loads on their backs and trucks trying to squeeze through the narrow spaces between buildings. Up here on the sixth floor, we are a bit away from the worst of the noise, though you still hear the city humming all day long. We have been running Elder Pharmacutical from this spot for quite some time now. The walls are mostly lined with tall metal shelves and there are usually stacks of papers on every available desk. It is a working office, nothing particularly fancy to look at. We spend our days coordinating with various suppliers and making sure the medicine orders are moving along to the right places. The elevator can be a bit temperamental sometimes, so many of us just take the stairs if we aren't carrying anything heavy. By mid-afternoon, the sun hits the windows directly and it gets pretty warm inside, so the fans are always going at full speed. We usually take a short break for some tea from the shop downstairs around four o'clock. It’s just a group of us here trying to keep things organized. It’s not a glamorous job, but we like being right in the middle of this old trading district.
