Hindustan Engineering Corporation

Hindustan Engineering Corporation is tucked away on Raja Sc Mullick Road in the Ramgarh part of Kolkata. It is a bit of a trek if you are coming from the main city center, but we like it here. We are at 87B/2A/2, which sounds like a complicated address, but it is easy enough once you get to the right lane. The building is old, like most things in this part of West Bengal. We spend our days dealing with engineering bits and pieces. There is always the sound of some machine or a fan humming in the background. It is a bit dusty sometimes because of the road work nearby. The staff here has been around for years, so we all know each other's habits. We don't really do the whole modern office look. It is more about having the right tools and getting the engineering work done properly. Sometimes we stay late when a job needs finishing, and we just grab some tea from the stall around the corner. It is a honest living. We see a lot of people passing by on the way to the market. It is a very lived-in space with heaps of papers and old ledgers. We just try to keep things moving and help out the clients who have been coming to us for years. It is a busy street but we have our own rhythm inside the shop.
