Gogols Garments

Gogols Garments is based out of Maheshtala, specifically in the Kumorpara area on Gangarampur Road. It is a bit of a journey to get here if you are coming from the main city, but this is where we have always been. The road outside can get quite muddy when it rains, and the trucks splashing through make a lot of noise. Our building is a simple one, nothing fancy to look at from the outside. Inside, we have our machines set up in rows. It’s a local operation, and most of us have lived in Maheshtala all our lives. We know the shopkeepers nearby and the guys who fix the machines when they break down. We don't have any polished brochures or a corporate identity. We just make garments. Sometimes the thread we get isn't the right shade, and we have to send it back, which slows things down. We work through the heat and the humidity without complaining much because that’s just the way it is here. Our families often drop by with tiffin carriers during the day. We don't have a big sign out front, just a small one near the door. The work is steady but not glamorous. We focus on getting the stitching right and making sure the buttons don't fall off. It’s just a regular place on Gangarampur Road where we spend our days and try to do an honest job.
