Creek Row is a busy spot. We spend most of our time here looking at numbers and handling the usual accounting stuff that comes through the door. The building at 13/A has its own character, like most old places in Kolkata. You can hear the traffic outside if the windows are open, but we usually keep them shut to focus on the ledgers. People come in and out all day, mostly looking to sort out their taxes or get their books in order. It isn't anything fancy inside, just desks, a lot of files, and a couple of computers that have seen better days. We’ve been here for a while now, and the routine stays pretty much the same. Most mornings start with tea while we go over what needs to be filed by the end of the month. It gets quite hectic during the busy season, and the office ends up looking a bit cluttered with papers everywhere. We don’t mind it much though. It’s just how things work here. Living and working around this part of the city means you get used to the noise and the constant movement. Sometimes the power goes out, or the internet acts up, but we just carry on with whatever needs doing. We’re just three partners and some staff trying to keep up with the rules and regulations that seem to change every other week. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy enough.
