Gayatri Creations

Being near Jadavpur University means there’s always people walking around Ibrahimpur Road. We are at No. 77/2 T. Gayatri Creations has been in this spot for a bit now. It’s easy to find if you know the area, though the street gets crowded with rickshaws and students. Inside, it’s mostly just stacks of what we're making and tools laying around on the benches. We don't always keep it perfectly tidy. There’s a lot of noise from the road, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We start pretty early most days. The students sometimes peek in when they’re passing by to see the colors of the thread. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s just this space on Ibrahimpur Road where the work happens. Sometimes we run out of space for all the fabric and boxes. It gets a bit chaotic during the busy months when orders come in all at once. We just do what needs doing. Nobody here wears a suit or looks very professional. We wear what’s comfortable for working in the heat. The air is always a bit dusty from the materials, but that’s just part of it. We don't do much talking about goals or future plans. We just look at what's on the table and get to work. It’s a local thing, really. People stop by, we chat for a second, then get back to it. That’s just how the day goes at Gayatri Creations near Jadavpur University.
