Garment Showroom

Our little shop is over in Pally Mangal Colony, specifically at number 3. If you know the Thakur Pukur area, you know it can get pretty lively. It’s a garment showroom, though it feels more like a local hangout sometimes. We have racks of clothes all over the place. I try to keep the front window looking decent, but things get moved around a lot. People from the neighborhood drop in to see what’s new or just to chat for a bit. It’s not one of those big malls where nobody knows your name. Here, we know most of the people who walk through the door. Kolkata weather can be tough on the fabrics, so we have to be careful with the dusting and keeping everything fresh. I spend a lot of my time folding things back up after customers have looked through them. It’s a lot of work, but I like being here. My uncle started this place years ago and not much has changed since then, except maybe the styles of the shirts. We have some lights that flicker sometimes, and the floor tile is chipped near the entrance. It doesn’t bother us much. We keep the doors open when it’s not too hot. There is a tea stall right outside that makes the best chai, so the smell usually drifts into the showroom. It’s just a normal place for normal people. We don't have fancy music or mirrors everywhere, just clothes on racks and a place to sit.
