Ganges Ford Service Center

If you head down to 5, Hide Rd, near the South Eastern Railway tracks, you’ll find us. This is the Ganges Ford Service Center. It’s a different vibe here than at a showroom. There’s the smell of oil and the sound of wrenches hitting the floor. We work in a big space that’s designed for getting under hoods. It’s not the cleanest place, but that’s because we’re actually working on things. The railway nearby makes the ground shake a little when the big trains go past. We’ve got a crew that knows their way around an engine. We don’t spend much time in the front office if we can help it. Most of our day is spent on the floor. We have some old posters on the wall and a calendar that’s usually a month behind. It’s a practical environment. We don’t have fancy uniforms, just clothes that can get dirty. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when several jobs come in at once. We just take them one by one. The fans hum in the background to keep the air moving. It’s a lot of physical labor and problem-solving. We’ve seen all kinds of issues over the years. We just get the tools out and start looking. It’s a steady rhythm of work. We close up once the last job is done for the day and the lights go out.
