We are based in Exim House, which is located on K. P. Lane, right near the Hazra More crossing. Hazra More is a landmark in itself, always crowded and loud. K. P. Lane is a little bit of a turn off the main road, which helps a bit with the noise. We have our own building here, though it isn't as big as the name might suggest. It’s just a solid place where we handle all our export and import business. We have been here for a good number of years. The office inside is full of ledgers and old computers that still work fine. We don’t swap things out just for the sake of it. The ground floor is mostly for storage and the upper parts are where we do the clerical work. It gets quite warm in the summer, so we keep the windows open. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood, children playing or people arguing over prices. It’s a real place with real people. We don’t have any polished slogans or fancy brochures. We just write down the orders and make sure the containers are loaded properly. Sometimes the paperwork is a headache with all the different rules, but we just take it one day at a time. It's honest work and it keeps us busy. We mostly just drink our tea and get through the day's cargo lists.
