Our place, Essem Tekno Services Pvt.Ltd., is located over at 36/3, C.N. Roy Road in Kolkata. It’s a different vibe from other spots in the city, mostly because of how the traffic flows on this road. We’ve got the 700 039 pin code and a small sign that people sometimes miss if they are driving too fast. Inside, it’s mostly just the sound of keyboards and the occasional phone ringing. We handle technical service requests that come in from all over. Some days are incredibly slow and we just clean up the workspace, while other days we can barely find time to eat lunch. We usually bring our own food from home and eat together at the big table in the back. It’s a practical setup. We aren’t interested in looking like a big fancy firm. We just want to get the technical parts right so the machines or systems we look after keep running for our customers. The building is a bit old, and the stairs are steep, but it works for what we do. We’ve lived in Kolkata our whole lives, so we’re used to the way things work here, from the monsoon rains to the crowded streets. We just keep our heads down and focus on the tasks at hand. It’s not glamorous, but it is what we know how to do. We just try to be honest and get the repairs finished on time.
