Our spot is at 93/4B Beadon Street in Kolkata. If you know North Kolkata, you know this street has a lot of character. The buildings are old and have those big windows and high ceilings. We are Deltmal Safety Shoes Ltd, and we operate out of this space in West Bengal. The area is always teeming with people, yellow taxis, and the sound of the trams not too far off. It is humid most of the time, so the walls have that typical Kolkata damp look in some corners, but that is just how things are here. We have a lot of stock around, and there is usually a smell of leather and rubber in the air. The street outside is narrow, and you have to be careful when you step out. We get our tea from the local vendor who brings it in those little clay cups. It is not a modern office building with fancy elevators. You have to walk through the old corridors to find us. We spend our time checking orders and making sure everything is where it should be. The neighbors are a mix of residents and other small businesses. We have been at this 700 006 address for a while, and it feels right to be in such a historic part of the city. It is a busy, noisy, and very real place to work every day.
