Deepak Engineering Co. has its shop at 55, Ezra Street. If you know this part of the city, you know how crowded and loud Ezra Street can be. It is full of shops and people moving boxes all day long. We have been in this spot for a while, and our space is pretty packed with all sorts of engineering items and tools. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find a shiny showroom. Instead, it’s mostly shelves stacked high with things we need for the daily grind. We start early because the street gets blocked with delivery vans by ten in the morning. Our day involves a lot of talking to people who walk in looking for specific components or advice on a repair. The walls are a bit stained from years of work, and the floor is worn down, but it works for us. We don't really do much in the way of advertising; people usually find us because they’ve been coming here for years or someone told them we have what they need. It’s a family-style atmosphere even if we aren’t all related. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the jobs we have lined up for the week. The fan overhead hums all day, trying to move the heavy air. We just keep the doors open and see who comes by with a problem to solve. We like the local feel of being right here in the middle of everything.
