If you find yourself on C.I.T ROADM and turn into 2A Deb Lane, that’s where you’ll find our office. It’s one of those narrow Kolkata lanes that can be a bit tricky to navigate if you’re not used to it. Dalmia Mohta & Associates has been operating from here for a good while. The building is older, but it serves its purpose. Inside, it’s mostly the sound of keyboards clicking and the occasional phone ringing. We handle a lot of different things, from basic bookkeeping to more complex financial stuff that people need help with. It’s not always easy work, especially when the deadlines are coming up and everyone is rushing at the same time. We try to stay calm. The lighting in the back room isn't the best, but we've got enough lamps. We deal with all sorts of people, some who are very organized and some who just bring us a shoebox full of papers. Both are fine with us. It’s our job to make sense of it all. We don’t do big presentations or anything. Usually, it’s just sitting across a desk and explaining what the numbers mean. It’s a practical business. We’ve got a routine that works for us and our clients just expect us to handle it. We stay until the job is done, even if the Kolkata heat makes the office feel a bit stuffy. We just keep our heads down and work.
