D. D. Pharmaceuticals

Over here at 127/8 Badu Main Road, things stay pretty active. We are in the Maheswarpur area of Barasat, not too far from Madhyamgram. It’s a good location because the main road is right there, though the traffic can be a nightmare during the morning commute. D. D. Pharmaceuticals is basically a warehouse and a small office space. We have a lot of steel racks that we bolted to the walls ourselves to make sure they don't tip over. The floor is concrete and stays cold, which is nice in the summer. We spend a lot of our time on the phone with distributors or checking the inventory against our clipboards. There’s always a faint smell of rubbing alcohol and cardboard in the air. We keep a small kettle in the back for making tea, which we do about five times a day. It’s a simple life here. We aren't trying to be the biggest company around, just trying to keep the shelves full and the orders moving. The building itself is nothing to look at, just a plain front with a sign that's a little faded from the sun. We know the rickshaw pullers who wait nearby and sometimes they help us move a heavy crate if we’re struggling. It’s just how things work in Barasat. We keep our heads down and get through the day's tasks one by one. It’s not glamorous, but it is our daily life and it feels okay.
