Computer Service Center

Ramnarayan Pally is a crowded part of Kolkata, and P-27/C is tucked away in a spot that you might miss if you aren't looking for it. I called it Computer Service Center because that is exactly what it is. I have been sitting at this same workbench for a long time now. The street noise from Kol-700063 is always there, the horns and the people shouting, but inside here, it is mostly just the sound of fans blowing. I have parts scattered around, some old motherboards and wires that I might need someday. My neighbors are mostly families who have lived here as long as I have. They know if they have a problem with a screen or a keyboard, they can just walk over. I don't really have a set schedule, though I try to be here by nine. The tea man comes by twice a day and that is usually when I take a break. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, and the floor is a bit uneven in the corner near the door. It's not a showroom or anything like that. It is just a workshop where things get fixed. I like the smell of the solder and the way the light looks through the front gate in the morning. It's just my small corner of the city where I do my thing. I keep a stack of newspapers on the side table for anyone waiting.
