At Ayan Karmakar Computer Sales & Service, we spend most of our time staring at screens or looking inside CPU towers. Our shop is at the New Market in Hatiara, right by the 30C/1 bus stand in Rajarhat. You cannot miss it if you are waiting for the bus. We handle both selling new parts and fixing old ones that have decided to stop working. It is a small space, so there are cables and keyboards stacked up in corners. Sometimes it feels like we are drowning in wires. People come in when their laptop won't turn on or if they need a new mouse because the old one broke. We try to give honest advice about whether something is worth fixing or if it is time to get a replacement. We are not one of those big shiny showrooms in the city. It is just us here at the bus stand. The fans in the computers make a constant humming sound all day. We deal with software updates, virus issues, and broken screens. It gets busy in the evenings when people are coming home from work. They drop off their machines and we tell them we will take a look as soon as we can. We just keep working through the pile of repairs. It is a local spot for local people who need their tech sorted out without a lot of fuss or high prices. We just try to get the machines running again.
