Century Aluminium Works

Our workshop is situated at 8, Camac Street. It’s a good location, though the traffic on this road can be quite a headache during rush hour. We work primarily with aluminium here. It’s a lot of cutting and fitting. The shop is usually full of scraps and long bars of metal leaning against the walls. We have a few workbenches where most of the labor happens. It’s a loud place when the saws are running. We’ve been at this for a long time, so we know the material pretty well. The space is practical, nothing more. We have a small desk in the corner for the bills and the phone, but most of the time we are on our feet. Sometimes people stop by just to ask for directions because Camac Street has so many different buildings. We don’t mind. We just keep doing our work. The air in the shop usually has a bit of metal dust in it, so we keep the doors wide open for ventilation even when it is raining. It’s an old-fashioned way of doing things, I suppose. We don’t have a big marketing department or anyone like that. It’s just us and our tools. We see the same faces coming by for their orders year after year. It is a steady, quiet kind of life, apart from the noise of the machines. We just focus on the task at hand and try to stay organized amid all the metal.
