Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute

Our place is the Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, and you can find us at Bhiringhi Ambagan in Durgapur. It’s a well-known spot in this part of West Bengal. We’ve got quite a bit of space here for all the mechanical research we do. If you walk around, you’ll see lots of machines and different projects going on. We aren't a factory making things to sell, but more like a giant workshop where we try to solve engineering problems. The staff here are mostly local folks or people who moved to Durgapur for the work. It’s a working environment, so there is always some noise from tools or testing rigs. We don’t have a lot of polished furniture or decorative stuff in the hallways. It’s all about the metal, the gears, and the data. The Bhiringhi area is usually active, and we are right in the middle of it. Sometimes students come by to look at what we are doing. We keep a regular schedule, starting early and staying until the work is finished. It’s a practical place for practical people. We don't spend much time on talk, just on doing the actual engineering. Most of the guys here have grease on their hands at some point in the day. It’s just how it goes when you’re dealing with heavy machinery and research. It’s been a solid part of the Durgapur community for quite some time now, just doing our daily tasks.
