Our office for Careerconnect.Com is in the 700094 area of Kolkata. It’s a quiet residential neighborhood for the most part, which makes it a decent place to work. We run a website for careers, but most of our actual work happens at these old wooden desks we’ve had for years. There are five of us here on a regular day. We spend most of the morning updating the site and checking to see if any new jobs have been posted. It’s a lot of sitting and staring at screens. Sometimes the internet slows down and we all have to take a break until it picks back up. We don't have a receptionist, so if the door buzzer goes off, whoever is closest just gets up to see who it is. We keep a big calendar on the wall to track what needs to be done, though we usually just remember it anyway. The room has a high ceiling which keeps it relatively cool. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of employees. We are just a small team trying to keep a website running so people can find some work. We eat our snacks at our desks and listen to the radio sometimes. It’s a simple life and a simple business. We don't have any big goals other than making sure the site stays up and the information is accurate. It’s a lot of data entry and phone calls, but it keeps us busy and pays the bills.
