Caledonian Jute & Industries Ltd.

Our office is up on the second floor at 9 Brabourne Road. It’s an old part of town, and you can really feel the history when you walk through the doors. Caledonian Jute & Industries Ltd. has been operating out of this space for a long while. Jute is one of those things that’s been around forever, and we’re just one part of that whole system. The second floor stays reasonably cool in the summer compared to the street, though the fans are always going. We spend most of our time dealing with the mills and the various industrial side of things. It’s not very glamorous work. There are stacks of ledgers and samples everywhere you look. Brabourne Road is always humming with activity, and sometimes it’s hard to hear yourself think when the traffic gets bad. We have a small team here. Most of us commute from quite a distance, so the mornings are a bit of a rush to get the shutters up and the lights on. We don't have a flashy lobby or a receptionist in a suit. You just walk in and someone will probably be at their desk looking over a shipping manifest or talking to a supplier. It’s a practical environment. We focus on getting the jute products moving where they need to go. That’s pretty much the daily life here for us in this building.
