Calcutta Overseas Corporation

Our office is Room No. 5 on the second floor of 16, Maharana Pratap Sarani. It’s one of those older buildings in the area where we keep the Calcutta Overseas Corporation office. We’ve got a small space here, but it’s enough for the three of us. Most of our day is spent dealing with shipping papers and talking to people on the phone. It can get pretty loud with the fans going and the street noise coming in through the windows. We have a lot of old files tucked away in the corners. We’ve thought about moving to a bigger place, but we’re so used to being here. Maharana Pratap Sarani is a good location for us because everything is close by. We usually grab lunch from one of the vendors on the street. It’s a lot of back-and-forth with the ports and the transport guys. We don't have a website or any of that new stuff. People just call us or send a fax. It’s worked for us this long, so we don't see a reason to change it. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to do our work and go home to our families. It’s a regular job like any other. Some days it’s hectic, other days we just sit and wait for the phone to ring. We are just a small part of the big city machine.
