Calcutta Hardware Depot

If you head down to Burrabazar and look for number 161 on N S Road, you will find us there. Calcutta Hardware Depot is located right in the thick of things, near the famous Priya Gopal Bishoyi shop. This part of Kolkata is always crowded, with handcarts and people pushing past each other constantly. Our shop is old and the walls are lined with shelves that go all the way up to the ceiling. We keep all sorts of hardware items, from tiny screws to heavy-duty chains and tools. It can be a bit of a maze inside because we have so much stock packed into a small space. We have been here for decades, and the floorboards are worn down from all the feet that have walked over them. Finding exactly what a customer needs sometimes takes a few minutes of searching through the bins. We don't use computers to track every little bolt. We mostly know where everything is by memory. It is a loud, dusty, and busy place to work, but it is the heart of the trading district. We see all kinds of people every day, from contractors to local homeowners looking to fix a leaky tap. There is no air conditioning, just a few old ceiling fans that struggle to move the heavy air on hot summer afternoons when the market is at its peak.
