You can find Vinayak Fats Proteins over at Bentinck Chambers on Bentinck Street. We’re located in room 206. The building itself is one of those classic old Kolkata structures with the very narrow staircases and the old-style elevators that sometimes have a mind of their own and stop between floors. We work with various fats and proteins, which probably sounds very technical, but mostly it just involves a lot of trading and talking to different suppliers all day long. Our office is a bit on the small side, and we have a lot of thick ledgers and little sample jars sitting on the wooden shelves. It’s a very functional space, and honestly, there's nothing too pretty to look at. We spend most of our time on the phone or typing up new orders on the older computers we have. Bentinck Street is always loud outside, and you can even hear the tram bells ringing sometimes if you listen closely through the window. We’ve been operating from this exact spot for quite a long time now. The walls are a little yellowed from age and the ceiling fans hum quite loudly when they’re turned on full speed during the summer. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. People who actually need what we sell usually already know exactly where to find us. It’s just a regular business day for us, starting quite early in the morning and staying until the work is finished.
