Beginner

Our office is in Sreepally, Palta, which is near the old Bengal Enamel area in North 24 Parganas. It’s a place with a lot of history, though things are much quieter now than they used to be. We are in a residential-style building, so it feels more like a home than a business sometimes. We have a couple of rooms set up with desks and some old wooden cupboards for our files. The West Bengal weather can be quite unpredictable, so we are always prepared for a sudden rainstorm. When it rains, the sound on the roof is so loud we can barely hear each other. We do a bit of everything here, mostly helping out with local administrative tasks and small projects. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who live nearby. We usually start the day with a walk to the local tea stall before settling into the work. The area is full of trees and narrow lanes, so it’s a bit of a maze if you aren’t from around here. We like the name Beginner because it reminds us to stay humble and keep learning. There is no corporate ladder here to climb. We just want to provide a decent service to the folks in Sreepally. It’s a modest way to earn a living, and we are quite content with the way things are going. Most evenings, we finish up and walk home as the sun starts to set.
