Our office is located in Flat 2G of Mohini Apartments, which is at 1984 Prantika Road over in Garia. Being based in a residential apartment building in Kolkata-84 makes for a much calmer atmosphere than you would find in the middle of the city. We are a small firm of chartered accountants and we like the fact that our workspace feels a bit more personal. You have to walk through the main gate of the complex to find us, but most of our clients are locals who know the way by now. Inside, the rooms are filled with shelves of box files and a few sturdy desks. We handle all the usual things like income tax, auditing, and helping people set up their small businesses. It is a quiet routine for the most part, though things get a lot more frantic when the filing deadlines start approaching. We don't have a receptionist in a suit or a fancy waiting lounge. Usually, one of us just gets up from our desk to greet whoever walks in. We spend a lot of time checking numbers and making sure every document is in its right place. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait for the generator to kick in, which is just part of living in this area. It is a straightforward, no-nonsense office where we just focus on doing our work correctly and helping out the neighbors with their finances. We like the pace of things here in Garia.
