If you know Kolkata, you know how those old lanes are. We are at 9A, Jagadish Nath Roy Lane. It is tucked away in the Beadon Street area, near the post office. Autark Management Services Pvt. Ltd. has been here for a while now. The building is old, like most things in this part of town, and it has that specific smell of old paper and city dust. Getting here can be a bit of a squeeze if you are driving, so most of us just walk from the main road. The neighborhood is full of life, with people shouting and rickshaws going by all day long. Inside our office, it is a bit quieter. We handle management services, which basically means a lot of paperwork and talking to people on the phone. It isn't glamorous work, but it needs to be done right. We do not have any big mission statements on the walls. We just have desks, chairs, and a lot of files. The Beadon Street post office is a good landmark for us. Sometimes the monsoon rains flood the lane a little, but we just wear our boots and keep going. It is a very Kolkata way of living. We are proud of being in this historic part of the city. It feels real. We are just a group of people working hard in a small lane, trying to stay on top of our tasks without making too much noise about it.
