Our shop is at 57/7H/29 B T Road in Cossipore. It’s quite easy to find because we are very close to the Cossipore police station. B T Road is always humming with the sound of trucks and buses, so it’s never really quiet outside. We have a medium-sized space where we keep all our fashion items. It’s mostly ready-made clothes that people can just pick up and wear. We have a small changing room in the back that we built ourselves out of some plywood and a curtain. The walls are painted a simple off-white color and we have some metal racks bolted to them. We spend a lot of our morning tidying up the hangers because things always get messed up. Cossipore is an old part of the city and there’s a lot of history here, but our shop is just a regular place for people to buy clothes. We don’t have a big sign with flashing lights. We just have the name painted above the door. Most of our regulars live in the apartment blocks nearby. They come in when they need something new for a birthday or just a fresh shirt for the office. It’s just me and a helper most days. We sit near the door to catch whatever breeze comes in from the street. It’s not a fancy life, but it keeps us busy and we like the neighborhood.
