Apas Exports Pvt. Ltd.

Apas Exports Pvt. Ltd. is up on the 3rd floor over at 52-A, Shakespeare Sarani. It’s an old building and the elevator sometimes has a mind of its own. We spend a lot of time on the phone or looking at documents for the export business. The street outside is always noisy with traffic and people walking by. Kolkata summers are hot, so we have a couple of fans that stay on all day. Our office is a bit cramped with all the files we have to keep. We started this because we knew a bit about moving goods across borders. It isn't a very glamorous job, mostly just checking lists and making sure things are where they should be. We have a small team here and we all know each other well. Sometimes we eat lunch together at our desks when there is a lot of work to finish. The view from the third floor isn't much, just the tops of other buildings and the street below. We’ve been here for several years and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint. But it works for us. We don't need a big flashy showroom. Most of our work is done through emails and phone calls anyway. It’s a steady kind of life, even if it gets a bit stressful when a shipment is delayed. We just keep moving forward one day at a time without much fuss.
