Annas Fashion

Annas Fashion is over at No. 1 Deshbandhu Nagar, right in the Panihati section of Sodepur. It’s a residential area mostly, so we get a lot of people who live just a few houses down coming in to see what’s new. The shop is on the ground floor, which makes it easy for everyone to just walk in. Sodepur is a busy suburb, and Deshbandhu Nagar has its own rhythm. We’ve got a couple of mirrors on the walls and some racks that we built ourselves. It’s not a designer studio, just a place where we make and sell clothes that people actually want to wear every day. My aunt used to help out here, but now it’s mostly just us. We keep the tea kettle going in the back because the afternoons can get a bit long. The street outside is usually full of kids playing or people heading to the station. We like the noise; it makes the day go by faster. Sometimes we get stuck with a difficult pattern and end up staying late under the tube lights. The smell of new fabric is everywhere in here. We try to keep the place tidy, but with all the thread and scraps, it’s a bit of a losing battle. It’s a honest living and we’re happy to be here in Sodepur.
