Amrit Impex Pvt. Ltd. is up on the sixth floor of 1 British Indian Street. We are in Room No. 604. It’s an old building with a lot of history. The hallways are narrow and the walls are thick. Because we are so high up, we have a decent view of the rooftops around us. The elevator is one of those old ones with the metal gates you have to pull shut yourself. It’s a bit temperamental sometimes. Inside Room 604, it’s mostly just desks, phones, and stacks of papers. We deal with imports and exports from here. The street below is always crowded and noisy, but it’s a bit quieter once you get up to our floor. We have a small window that lets in a bit of a breeze if the weather is right. Most of the day is spent on the computer or talking to clients. We don’t have much room for anything extra, so we have to keep things organized. There’s a small sink in the corner where we wash our cups. It’s a very practical workspace. British Indian Street is right in the heart of the business district, so everything we need is close by. We’ve been in this room for years and have no plans to move. It’s just where we do our business every day. We usually stay until the lights in the other offices go out.
